HEARTWISE
HEARTWISE is an interdisciplinary project focused on predicting and preventing drug-induced cardiotoxicity, with particular relevance to older adults. By integrating artificial intelligence with heterogeneous biomedical data, the project seeks to improve the early identification of cardiotoxicity risks and support safer treatment strategies.
Drug-induced cardiotoxicity remains a major challenge in both drug development and clinical practice. HEARTWISE addresses this need by combining genetic, bioactivity, mechanistic, and pathway information into a unified framework for predictive modelling.

Project’s Objectives
- Build a comprehensive database integrating mechanistic, genetic, and bioactivity data.
- Develop machine-learning models for the prediction of drug-induced cardiotoxicity.
- Validate predictive algorithms using robust data analysis workflows.
- Deliver a functional prototype with clinical and applied relevance.
- Support innovation, competitiveness, and translational impact in ageing-related healthcare.
Scientific Approach
The project combines data mastery with advanced machine learning and deep learning methods. Its workflow is designed to integrate diverse sources of biomedical information into a single predictive framework, supporting iterative model refinement and experimental validation.
This approach allows HEARTWISE to move beyond descriptive analysis towards actionable prediction. The intended outcome is a user-friendly system that can support decision-making in contexts where early recognition of cardiotoxicity is critical.
